About Us

"Heart Of Broward County Libraries"

The Friends of Broward County Library, Inc. is an organization which leads the Friends Chapters in library advocacy – promoting community understanding and support of library needs and services.

The purpose of the FOBCL The Broward County Library system has two different types of Friends Chapters.

  • Friends Chapters
  • Umbrella Chapter

Friends Chapters are associated with a library location or a section within the Libraries Division.

The FOBCL is an “umbrella” Chapter that brings together the leaders of the individual Friends Chapters.

These Chapter leaders work to advocate for library needs as a unit at the County, State, and Federal levels. They support one another in the goal of maintaining and growing benefits that the public libraries provide and creatively enhance library services.

Monthly meetings provide continuing opportunities for Friends to share successful ideas and plan new endeavors. Membership of the FOBCL The membership of the FOBCL is comprised of Presidents or their designee from each of the Friends Chapters and At-Large members appointed by the President of the FOBCL.
